The Giant Flower

We read the book "The Tiny Seed" by Eric Carle. In the story, after a long journey the tiny seed settles into the dirt. This very tiny seed beats the odds and in the end turns into a giant flower. The children wanted to draw flowers and many expressed a desire to create their own giant flower.
We decided because of its size that we would together make one giant flower. We ripped up tissue paper and set out to glue the orange, green and yellow paper onto the flower that was drawn on butcher block paper.
It was a great group project.
We talked about the different parts of the flower and revisited the things a real flower need to grow and survive.
We cut the flower out and put it on the wall in our red room.
The children took turns standing under the flower. It was taller than everyone!
