Things we do at Imagine....

It was a cold week in Florida , but we stayed warm and toasty inside.
I brought out a blue piece of material I found in the resource room and we decided it would be fun to make a river in our classroom.


The children named things you might find in a river.
They came up with rocks, logs, fish, turtles, boats and alligators.
We found things in our classroom to put in our river. We put trees around the banks of our river and animals showed up to drink from the cool water.

I brought out clay and the children made fish, turtles and snakes.



The children helped Chris make origami boats. We helped the children find the letters to name their boats.





We actually had reports that snow might be a possibility! For kids living in Florida this is very exciting. We kept a snow watch and did a snow dance. It didn't snow so we decided to make our own. We mixed toilet paper and soap shavings together with warm water and made a fun, mushy, soapy concoction.






The children made the cutest snow people.

They made arms out of pipe cleaners and eyes out of beads.


We didn't forget the buttons and used felt for their "carrot" noses.

Summer Art Show

This summer has been an incredible journey into the world of art. It started with a family trip to the Harn museum that inspired explorations into color,lines and shapes, which led to the discovery of different mediums and techniques.We read books about famous artists like, Vincent Van Gogh, Georgia O'Keeffe and Jackson Pollack. Somewhere around mid summer we provoked the idea of finding a way to show our art to our families .We talked about our trip to the museum and the children were excited to make an "art show" for their parents and friends. Our art show was a huge success.  We documented the work that the children did with the intention of making our summer visible to our parents. This type of documentation lets those not in our classroom day to day understand our path; where we started and why and how we ended up where we did. Painting Storm Clouds

We learned there are different types of clouds, and that not all clouds bring rain. We can tell the weather by the kinds of clouds that are in the sky. Storm clouds are called cumulonimbus. They are tall, puffy and grey. They bring the rain. We invited the children to paint storm clouds. They turned out beautiful! Look for the them in our work room to the left of our back door.
